1. Put safety first. If you are going to use a ladder, make sure to keep it as far away from power and overhead lines as possible. Power lines and metal ladders go together like oil and water. Use only UL-approved outdoor electrical lines and displays. The UL-approved label needs to be on the display packaging and a tag on the electrical cord. Use as few cords as possible, and keep them out of traffic areas.
